Frame Colour

Have you ever wanted to learn how to preserve butterflies and moths? With our workshop, you will learn the fundamentals of the art of pinning, meet other local creatives and most importantly, have a great time!

This workshop is extra special as you will get the chance to create your own frame with the beautiful Blue Morpho. Latin name: Morpho didius

Why are blue morphos awesome?

Im so glad you asked, Not only are they some of the larges known butterflies-featuring wings that span from 12 cm to 20 cm (average is 3 to 10 cm) but the most defining feature of this butterfly is of course their blue iridescent wings, but would you be surprised to hear, they have no blue pigment in them!

Butterflies have hundreds of thousands of microscopic scales and blue amorphous have scales that refract light filtering out all colours accept from brilliant blue which is what causes your eyes to see that iridescent, metallic looking blue magic!

Our butterflies are ALWAYS ethically sourced from conservation projects and butterfly farms; they have lived their full natural lives and are only sold for entomological purposes once they have passed naturally.
